Factorio is proving to be WAY more addictive than I would have given it credit for before playing it. My contention before starting what that this is essentially a vastly complicated cookie clicker game, and I’m more or less still of that mind. You want to get better stuff so you can get better stuff so you can get better stuff. It’s like real life, but with less purpose. It’s interesting to me that what makes a game compelling is how accurately it can trick your brain into thinking you’re actually accomplishing something useful. If you wanted to be cynical about it you might say that games keep you from work that is ACTUALLY useful. But recreation is an important part of life, and I say, if you’re going to relax, you’re best off relaxing in the most compelling way possible.
